Discover the heart of Wayland Woolcraft

Welcome to Wayland Woolcraft, based in Watton where passion meets patience. Learn about our journey, our commitment to helping you master new skills, and the joy we find in sharing the art of knitting and crochet.

Our story: A journey woven with yarn

My love of crafting began on a rainy afternoon when I was a little girl, learning to knit with the help of my village Sunday school teacher. Crochet was a different story. I was fascinated by it, but it took me a long time to master. It wasn't until a visit to a craft show, where I found the inspiration to keep trying and I got it!

Ever since, knitting and crochet have been a source of joy, creativity and calm in my life. In today's busy world, and alongside a full-time career in the NHS, crafting provides a chance to slow down, relax and focus on something positive. I truly believe in the therapeutic and mindful benefits of working with yarn and creating something by hand.

Nothing brings me greater pleasure than sharing these skills with others. Whether you're picking up needles or a hook for the very first time, or looking to build on existing skills, I'm passionate about helping people gain confidence, discover their creativity and experience the same enjoyment that crafting has brought to me throughout my life.

Our unique teaching approach

At Wayland Woolcraft, you'll find a friendly, patient and supportive approach to learning. I've been teaching for over nine years and have spent the last two years helping people discover the joys of knitting and crochet.

I believe everyone can learn with the right support, encouragement and a little practice. Whether you're picking up a hook or needles for the first time, or looking to develop your existing skills, I'll guide you step by step at a pace that suits you.

My aim is to help you build confidence, enjoy the learning process and leave each session feeling proud of what you've achieved. No question is too small, and mistakes are simply part of the journey. After all, every experienced crafter was once a beginner too!

Beyond the needle: Other passions

I may spend most of my time with knitting needles and crochet hooks, but fibre crafts are a bit of an obsession! There's far more to explore than simply making stitches. I love learning about yarns and fibres, winding beautiful skeins into workable balls, experimenting with colour and texture, and discovering how different materials can transform a project.

More recently, I've ventured into spinning my own yarn, which is a whole new adventure. And when I'm not surrounded by wool, you might find me dabbling in a little embroidery or cross-stitch. After all, there are far too many wonderful crafts to stick to just one!
